Romania's 5th participation at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair New York - ICFF, held on 19-21 May 2024, was an outstanding success. The 11 Romanian manufacturers who took part in the event met more than 1,200 architects, designers, distributors, and retailers from the USA, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Portugal, and Argentina, strengthening the position they had already established in the US market. Last year, Romania's furniture exports to the United States amounted to €79.8 million, a 2-fold increase compared to 2018, when the Romanian furniture industry first appeared on the scene in New York, and a 4.7-fold increase compared to 2011.
AESTHETIC INDESIGN with the VLAdiLA brand, ALEX PROD EXPERT with the Montana Campeni brand, ASKIA FURNITURE, AXM PROD 93 with the Romina Furniture brand, IMOB, LEEA'S ROOM FURNITURE, MODEROM STYLE with the ARBORE by Carel Woodworks brand, SIMEX, SOPHIA 2004, VEST ARIN POINT with the VOICU by Nord Arin brand, WOOD FURNITURE & CONTRACT with the Bradul Maneciu brand presented innovative, designer furniture made of solid wood or wood in combination with metal, stone, glass, marble or concrete, as well as unique interior decorations, from iconic wallpaper to lush velvet textiles and fairytale curtains and drapes. The collections were displayed in modernly designed booths to pique the interest of professionals during the 3-day exhibition. With upholstered or paneled walls, the decoration of some of the booths in the National Pavilion brought added prestige to the Romanian furniture industry in the US.
At this year's edition, the International Furnishings and Design Association - IFDA has granted the "Best in ICFF Show" award in the Wall-covering category to the Romanian company AESTHETIC INDESIGN, which exhibited at ICFF New York under the VLAdiLA brand.
Already established in the local market, the VLAdiLA brand exhibited pieces from its latest wallpaper, textile, and furniture collection, Una Lettera D'Amore, on the ICFF New York stage. "We were welcomed with open arms, and this award is further confirmation that our vision is appreciated even overseas. Also, this award comes with the pride of being Romanian, and, moreover, the quality of products made in Romania is at American standards", said Oana Vladila, architect and co-founder of VLAdiLA.
The VOICU by Nord Arin brand made a successful debut at ICFF New York, where it showcased a stunning range of furniture pieces that captivated design enthusiasts and industry experts. "This event marks a significant milestone for VOICU and Nord Arin, setting the stage for future innovation and continued design excellence," said company representatives. The ARBORE by Carel Woodworks brand also caught the attention of professionals. Presented in a modernly designed booth with paneling, mirrors, and wallpaper, creating the perfect setting for displaying the new furniture pieces, the ARBORE collection, showcased for the first time in New York, had more than 400 American visitors asking about the materials used, how they are made and the delivery time. Montana Câmpeni and Bradul Măneciu, two brands that exhibited together in an integrated concept ranging from tables, chairs, bookcases, and sideboards to stools, sofas, and armchairs, won
over major retailers, with the value of the contracts estimated to be worth millions of dollars. ASKIA introduced noise reduction solutions, namely the Kameleon collection, versatile desks designed to adapt to different workspaces "as a chameleon does in nature". The SIMEX company had over 150 professional visitors at the booth. They were interested in the statement pieces presented at ICFF: the Camelot table with fluted solid wood legs, the Contemporan collection made in collaboration with renowned textile manufacturer RUBELLI, and the Jasmina bedroom set made of brushed oak. The brands Romina Furniture and Leea's Room stood out at the New York show with elegant and sophisticated baby room furniture that combines style and functionality, setting new standards in luxury children's interiors. Imob presented its new collections of chairs and sofas, seeking to strengthen its position on the American market with the pieces that have established it in Europe. Sophia Romania made its mark on the New York scene, offering customized decorating solutions with luxury curtains and draperies, custom-made in its creative workshops in Bucharest and Iași, but also promoted its new micro-franchise concept.
The 35th ICFF, North America's global design platform, charted the latest trends in original and sustainable design. Jointly organized with WantedDesign Manhattan, this edition gathered 450 established and emerging design brands from 35 countries, showcasing contemporary furniture, seating, rugs and flooring, lighting fixtures, outdoor furniture, fabrics, wallpaper, accessories, fabrics, and kitchen and bathroom furnishings.
